SanLucar, an internationally operating company based in Valencia, Spain; was founded in 1993 by Stephan Rötzer. SanLucar, renowned for providing some of the best tasting fruits and vegetables, have a range of approximately 90 various options from 35 different countries. SanLucar, is a brand with the broadest range of goods in it’s market and most of their citrus fruits are grown on the South African and Valencia coasts.

The Rooihoogte citrus farm near Porterville in the Western Cape is one of the citrus farms that produces these internationally sought after fruits distributed worldwide and FLOWTITE™ was the pipe of choice when upgrades were made to their pipeline. They required running water for irrigation of the 308 ha farm, from a pump station at the Berg River to a filter station. The 948m DN700 FLOWTITE™ pipeline is being used to pump the water at 1 700 000 l/hr at a pressure bar of PN12.

Due to existing infrastructure, the light weight characteristics of FLOWTITE™ pipes made it the ideal pipe for this project as it enabled contractors to easily manoeuvre the pipes during installation. Mr Johann van Staden from Bergrivier Besproeing was the engineer responsible for the design of the pipeline and with assistance from Fiberpipe this project was designed and implemented with great success. Part of the successful installation of the pipeline is due to constant support from onsite field representatives that are available free of charge to ensure quality and longevity of every FLOWTITE™ pipeline installed.
